New Tool for Adjusting Transition Timing in Premiere

We’ve added a new Fix Transition Timing panel that lets you quickly update an existing transition after changing an edit point or adjusting the timing of source clips.

Why Motion Bro transitions work differently from native Premiere transitions

Most Motion Bro transitions for Premiere were originally created in After Effects. This approach allows us to preserve complex animation, effects, and the visual quality of the original After Effects transitions. However, these transitions are not native Premiere effects attached directly to an edit point. When you apply a Motion Bro transition, the plugin creates a separate transition clip using the selected source clips and their timing at that moment. If you later trim a source clip, move the edit point, or otherwise change its timing, the clips inside the already-created transition remain unchanged. Native Premiere transitions automatically follow the edit point. Motion Bro transitions cannot update in the same way because Premiere treats them as separate timeline items. Previously, the only reliable solution was to remove the transition and apply it again manually.

What was added

The new Fix Transition Timing panel automates this process.

You can now:

  • Update a transition after moving an edit point or changing source clip timing.
  • Keep the current duration of the selected transition.
  • Set a new transition duration.
  • Rebuild the transition using the current state of the source clips.

The feature is available for compatible Cut and Overlap transition packs in Premiere.

How to use

  1. Select the Motion Bro transition on the timeline together with its source clips.

  2. Click the clock icon to open the Fix Transition Timing panel.

  3. Select Current to keep the existing transition duration, or Custom to set a new duration.

  4. Click Fix Transition Timing.

Motion Bro will replace the existing transition with a new version that matches the updated edit and selected duration.

How to update

To use this feature, update Motion Bro to version 7.3.1 or later by clicking the  Update button in the top-right corner of the plugin.
