Customizing presets in After Effects

Most presets can be customized after you add them to the timeline. You can quickly change settings such as text, fonts, color schemes, post effects, and more.

Depending on the preset type, the settings controls may be on different layers.

For presets such as Motion Design elements, layouts, and compact transitions, controllers are mainly located on the preset pre-composition. Select such pre-composition and go to the Effect Controls tab to customize it.

For presets with multiple layers, such as Overlap Transitions, the settings controls can be on the layer labeled “Master.”

For complex scenes or cut-transitions presets, the setting controls can be found inside the preset’s pre-composition. To customize such presets, open the preset pre-composition, and here you can find a layer called “Settings” (or similar) that has controllers on it.

Hello, the transition is added in a couple of clicks, but to create a custom depth map you need to use the example of creating a file with a black and white depth map in Photoshop, as shown in the lesson.

I love the kinetic type ‘posters’… they’re very long in duration though; what’s the best way to shorten and loop them for the web?
